VADODARA, June 29: If there is something to be learnt from the recent cyclone, which hit the state, it is how to use a lifeboat.

And precisely this is what Prakash Patel’s Monters Club is all about. The first-of-its-kind in the state, the club trains people in using a life boat. Addressing reporters here on Monday, Patel said at present his club had a strength of 250-odd people and had already conducted 15 camps.”

Observing that there was a need to set up such a club in Kutch and Saurashtra region, he pointed out that it was the people of this region who needed to be trained in this field.

“We have already trained youths from this section of the state but if the government grants us permission and provides us with land and other infrastructural facilities we can set up our own institute there,” he said.

Patel added that he had already approached the state government to impress upon them the urgency of setting up such an institute, but was yet to get any response.
