NEW DELHI: The director of Delhi zoo, D N Singh, has been arrested by the anti-corruption branch of the Delhi government for allegedly accepting Rs 40,000 as bribe from a contractor. An Indian Forest Service officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Singh was arrested yesterday under the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from Subhash Sharma, who held a contract for car parking at the zoo premises. The bribe was for cancelling a show-cause notice earlier issued by Singh, an official release said here today. Singh, who was produced in a city court today was remanded to judicial custody till July 5.Husband, in-laws held for dowry deathJAMMU: Four members of a family, accused of murdering a young woman for dowry near Vaishno Devi shrine in May, have been arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir police. The four, Parvesh, (husband of the victim), Inder Raj (father-in-law), Prem (mother-in-law) and Kiran (sister-in-law), were arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Vandana Devi alais Rani, Inspector General of Police Jammu range, Kuldeep Khuda said today. The accused were arrested from Ragunath temple in Jammu, where they had been hiding since the murder of the woman, he said. They reportedly confessed that Kiran pushed her sister-in-law to death on May 1, when the family was returning to their home town in Jalandhar after visiting the Vaishnov Devi shrine, Khuda said.Jain Muni Acharya Tulsi crematedJAIPUR: Muni Tulsi, propounder of the Anuvartha Aandolan and Ganadhipathy of the Terapanthi Jain Dharmasangham, was cremated at Nokha Road in Bikaner this evening. Tulsi died following a cardiac arrest in Gangshahr locality of Bikaner yesterday. His younger brother, Sushil Khater, lit the funeral pyre.
