AHMEDNAGAR, JANUARY 10: Maharashtra government would soon appoint D.Ed teachers in primary schools on contract basis and the government was committed to improve the school education, Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said here on Monday.
The appointment of D.Ed teachers would be for a period of five years, Deshmukh said while addressing a rally of party workers here this evening.
The Democratic Front government had promised employment generation and would fulfill it, he said, adding that the government would give justice to minorities, Backward Classes and farmers who were neglected during the last four-and-a-half years.
State Education Minister Ramkrishna More said that in the prevailing circumstances, the decision to appoint new D.Ed teachers on contract basis was quite appropriate.
He also defended the decision to introduce English from first standard onwards in the State.
Deshmukh said that though there was an acute shortage of money, the State Government was bound to complete various projects which will be helpful for the common man and farmers.
