State-level NCC day observed

Deputy Commissioner of Amritsar Narinderjit Singh reviewed the parade, took salute and also inaugurated blood donation camp.

He lauded the performances of cadets and motivated the students to join NCC to promote unity and discipline in the society. He also gave away the prizes to the cadets.

Insurance staff hold protest rall: The employees of GIC and LIC yesterday observed one hour strike and also organised a rally in protest against the government8217;s planning to open up the insurance sector for private companies.

J S Randhawa and Ved Kumar from LIC and Narinder Singh and Ashok Sharma from GIC spoke on the occasion and informed that both the above sectors were making big contribution in the five year plans for the government which were used in various public welfare schemes and still the government was planning to open up the sector for the private companies.
