City court has sent senior Petroleum Ministry official Sandeep Garg, arrested for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, to five days’ CBI custody.Garg along with alleged conduit Atul Jindal, a Panipat-based businessman, was arrested by the CBI yesterday. The magistrate remanded them to five-day CBI custody on Saturday. He officer is likely to be suspended on Monday.Garg, Regional Director (North) in the Anti-adulteration Division, had allegedly directed Jindal to collect a Rs 16 lakh bribe on his behalf. The CBI reached Garg’s residence immediately after Jindal had handed over the amount to him at his government house in Moti Bagh.
