Meanwhile, the first day of the ColorPlus Open saw Kolkata8217;s SSP Chowrasia grabbing the top spot with a seven-under 65. One stroke behind was the man with the most wins on the tour this season 8212; Delhi8217;s Ashok Kumar. Chowrasia had the better of the day8217;s conditions, teeing off in the morning, even as the afternoon starters struggled in the heavy winds and heat that replaced the pleasant weather of the early morning.
Chowrasia started off with a birdie on the first and was three-under at the turn 8212; with his sole blemish on the card coming on the par-five fifth. He finished with eight birdies. Ashok was his natural audacious self off the tee, but the putts were being sunk with consummate ease, and testimony to that came on the par-five 11th hole where he found an eagle. In sole third place and two shots behind leader was Digvijay Singh. Asian Tour star Gaurav Ghei shot two-under to be placed tied sixth.
