Amidst a spate of deadly terror attacks by the Tamil Tigers, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse has said that a bomb attack on a camp or an airport could not bring him down and his government was committed to eliminate terrorism from the island nation."The liberation of the people depends on the defeat of the LTTE. We will do it. It cannot be stopped by anybody. We are committed to eradicating terrorism from this country," Rajapakse, in his first reaction to the deadly attack on an air base in Anuradhapura on Monday that left 13 soldiers dead and destruction of around eight aircraft, said at a public function in Colombo on Thursday. The President said the public should also be vigilant."I have said earlier, too, that a few Tigers could do the sort of damage that was done in Anuradhapura. Just the army and the police cannot be sufficiently vigilant about these. They need the support of the public. The public should keep their eyes open," he said."Some people think that if they come and attack and go this government will fall. That is wrong," the president said.Rajapakse said: "We have not been idling. We liberated Silawatura. Now we have commenced operations in the Wanni. If we are attacked we will also attack. We went for attack after being patient for a long time and reached the end of our patience. We attacked only after the problem could not be solved through discussions."Meanwhile, Sri Lankan securities forces which is undertaking an intensive search operations following Monday's attack has apprehended six top Tamil Tigers including an LTTE intelligence chief, the police said.
