Hoping to bring back some of the party’s lost glory in Chhattisgarh following its rout in the Assembly polls, Congress president Sonia Gandhi will kick off her campaign in the state tomorrow with a roadshow here.
During the two-day Jansampark Abhiyan rally, which will begin from Raipur town at 3 pm tomorrow, the Congress president will crisscross through the five parliamentary constituencies of Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Jangir-Champa and Raigarh, covering 275 km on the road.
Some of the areas in the tribal belt, where the party suffered the worst defeat in the Assembly polls, including Bastar and Sarguja, still remain out of bounds for the Congress chief because of perceived security threats from the Naxalites.
Sonia’s team of close aides, led by AICC treasurer Motilal Vora and former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, reached Raipur today to give final touches to her campaign schedule.
