The Congress high command has sought a clarification from Rajasthan PCC president Bulaki Das Kalla over the release of a book critical of party president Sonia Gandhi.
Following a report in The Indian Express today, AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik—in charge of the state—told reporters that Kalla has been asked to explain why he had released a book written by a state party intellectual cell office-bearer, which projects Sonia as a manipulative ‘‘maharani.’’
The writer, Manchand Khanela, vice-president of the cell, is likely to be expelled.
‘‘Indira Gandhi was engaged in promoting corruption, Sonia Gandhi is a ‘Maharani’ who gave up the Prime Minister’s post because of her selfish interests but called it sacrifice and a company in which ‘Rajkumar’ Rahul Gandhi has a majority stake is getting huge contracts from the Government,’’ Khanela wrote in the book.
Kalla is currently Leader of Opposition too, pending the selection of his successor following his appointment as state party president. Kalla may be replaced as opposition leader by party general secretary Ashok Gehlot, said sources.
