Actor Vijay Raaz, who was detained at the Abu Dhabi airport on alleged drug charges last week, was released tonight, according to Sudhir Vyas, Indian Ambassador to the UAE.

‘‘He was released at around 7.30 pm and will be travelling to India tonight. We are glad that we were successful,’’ Vyas said.

Raaz was held on February 14 after he flew into Abu Dhabi by an Etihaad Airlines flight from Mumbai, en route to Dubai for the shoot of Deewane Hue Paagal, directed by Vikram Bhatt.
