Early bird
Something is really wrong with Govinda, these days. He8217;s waking up early and reporting to work on time. Believe it or not, Chichi has actually been reporting at BR dubbing studio at 7.00 am, every day. This dance wonder, who is among the few good actors we have, is all set to complete the films that have been lying in the cans. But imagine how difficult it must be for him 8212; rising early, stepping out of the house at the crack of dawn and working! It seems that Chichi is in a hurry to close old chapters and open new doors. Like his producers 8212; who are finally going to release old films and start new ones.
All8217;s well
Patch-ups are inevitable in Bollywood, and Govinda and Urmila Matondkar are certainly no exception. Whether they admitted it or not, there was some tension between the hero and the Rangeela girl. Apparently, she had refused a Tips film opposite him. Her reasons were in no way connected to the fact that Govinda was the hero, but the sensitive actor didn8217;t buythat. He was convinced that she didn8217;t want to work with him since he was going through a low phase.
But Govinda8217;s career is a different story today, and Urmila too has had her share of flops. Whatever the problem was, it seems to have been sorted out and this pair has now signed two films at one go. The first one is, Kunwara, produced by Tips and directed by David Dhawan. The other has a rather long title 8212; Hum Tumpe Marte Hain. Govinda has this charm that always works with women and you never know, just like Karisma and Raveena, Urmila too may be dying to work with him after all.
Wait and watch
Those who have seen Satya have really liked the film. And leading lady Urmila. Her deglamourised image has been well accepted. What hasn8217;t been digested is the violence. And that8217;s the question mark. Will the audience be able to accept so much blood and gore? Perhaps Ram Gopal Varma had anticipated this problem 8212; which is why he took so much care with the songs. Only recently, when thechoreographer Ahmed Khan was not available, Varma, along with some help from Urmila, went ahead and picturised a song on his own. Incidentally, he had fallen out with Saroj Khan for similar reasons. When she was unavailable, he decided to sign on her assistant instead of waiting. That8217;s how Ahmed became an independent choreographer after Rangeela. But if time waits for no one, neither does Ramu, except may be for Urmila.
In competition
We all know how loyal directors are to their lady loves. And we aren8217;t just talking about Ram Gopal Varma 8212; remember when he patched up with Urmila, Mahima was unceremoniously dropped from Satya. But that8217;s all in the past and the Satya story is over.
This time it8217;s Vikram Bhatt that we are talking about. Yes, the same director who divorced his wife and is madly in love with Sushmita Sen. Actually, Sen is also as much in love with him but the same cannot be said about her feelings toward Aishwarya Rai. Much as the two girls have hated it, they have alwaysbeen pitted against each other, as rivals. Now, this competition is going to get worse. Bhatt is going to be directing Mulaqat, a film which was originally going to be directed by Mahesh Bhatt. And guess who the heroine of this film is? Ash! We don8217;t know how Ash is taking this, and neither does anyone know how Sush has reacted but this is one mulaqat we8217;d love to watch. Who knows, this film may just lead to two sworn enemies becoming best friends 8212; in this industry, anythingis possible.
Not so hot
So, will Jeans do for Aishwarya, what Aur Pyar Ho Gaya should have done? The girl is pretty and talented and it8217;s just a matter of getting the right break. Jeans is over-hyped, certainly. Haven8217;t you been reading about how this film is a Rs 19-crore project? The Tamil version of the film is already a big hit. Though the same cannot be said about the Telugu one. The Hindi version hits theatres tomorrow and we8217;ll find out her fate. The problem is that the music hasn8217;treally caught on. But again, there is a positive way to view that situation. Pardes went pretty much the same way. No one really liked the music until the film became a hit. It was only after the film8217;s release that the music became a big rage. As for Jeans, may be the same could happen. However, don8217;t let the Rs 19-crore figure get you all excited. Because Ishq was a Rs 18-crore project. Those of you who have seen the film must wonder where all that money went? Well, in shooting and re-shooting the same scenes, over and over again. Indra Kumar is famous for that, you knew that didn8217;t you?
Khan-e-Khaas
It8217;s the Khans who are making news again.
