Saurabh Bhambi’s bowling and Yashpal Singh’s batting enabled Sonnet beat Government Senior Secondary School, Vikaspuri by three wickets to qualify for the super league from pool B of the third Moonways (u-19) BDM Trophy tournament. In another match, Daryaganj Gymkhana beat East Delhi Club by five wickets.

Summer coaching camps
One more Test cricketer has been caught in the coaching academy mania in the Capital. The latest to join the academy-fever is Delhi and India medium pacer Robin Singh Jr, who will coach “young and talented boys” at the JMD Cricket Academy at Mukherjee Nagar from May 16. A New Delhi Cricket Academy is being opened at Bal Bharati Public School (Ganga Ram Hospital Marg) from May 8 where aspiring cricketers will get expert guidance from former international Surinder Khanna. Archies Greetings win
Archies Greetings defeated Pakistan Embassy by six wickets in a friendly game at the Embassy ground. Batting first Pakistan Embassy made 135 with Asif Junior scoring 44 but in reply, Archies scored 136. Rakesh, who took four for 25 in the Pak Embassy innings, made 44.

Padamjeet Sehrawat shines
Era Construction entered the quarterfinals of of the inaugural Baba Gurbachan Singh memorial tournament when they beat Moti Nagar Gymkhana by 167 runs. Era Constructions scored an imposing 256 for seven but Moti Nagar Gymkhana, who lost wickets at regular intervals, just about managed 89.

An all-round performance by Himanshu Chawla (24 and 2 for 14) and Manoj Kumar’s 25 helped Hans Raj Sports Academy beat City Boys Academy by 50 runs in the final of the Namdhari Suba Ganda Singh Gold Trophy (under-16) cricket tournament. Himanshu was adjudged the man of the match for his dual effort.
