Can India get back into Test mode?
There is plenty to play for over the next five days. This Test series is very much alive and may well be decided by one win in the Two Tests remaining. Over the last four days, both India and New Zealand will have reflected on their performances in the exhibition one-day match last Monday.

England down
Has the longest running cricket contest come the full circle? In the early matches a team of twenty two Australians used to tackle an English eleven. Judging by the pre-Xmas presents on offer from the England bowlers at Bellerive Oval, its time to start considering a handicapping system to even up the present Ashes contest.

Haryana win
The Services cricket team has a knack of losing matches from winning positions. Not many teams would have let go the opportunity of inflicting a morale-boosting win over Haryana the way the Services did today in their last North Zone one-day league. Chasing a victory target of 174 in 41 overs the home team was comfortably placed at one stage with the score reading 121 for three off 30 overs. The rest of the batting crashed for the addition of only 28 runs in 7.4 overs as Haryana won the game by 24 runs.

ATP tennis
So far the radars have failed to trace the Uzbek bomber. Oleg Ogorodov’s sorties had started again today but Kantero Masuda of Japan didn’t go for the white flag but shot back. The Uzbek should thank his stars that he ejected in time to scrape in the final of the Bharat Petroleum ATP Challenger tennis tournament.

Feroz leads
A birdie on the last hole saw Calcutta golfer Feroz Ali take a slender one-stroke lead ahead of defending champion Mukesh Kumar on the third day of the Rs 5 lakh BPGC Open.

Delhi win
Delhi beat Jammu and Kashmir by 30 runs in the last one-day league Ranji tie of the season today. The J&K skipper Sanjay Sharma after winning the toss put Delhi to bat to take advantage of the difficult playing conditions and the wet outfield.

Windies onslaught
South Africa’s cricketers are braced for an onslaught from the wounded West Indies when the third Test starts at Kingsmead on Saturday. "We expect them to come at us very hard," said South African coach Bob Woolmer, whose team hold a 2-0 lead in the five-Test series. "The last thing we will do is underestimate them”.

Kerala win
Kerala, the men’s reigning champions in the 47th National Volleyball Championships, dropped a game in their Group A match against Uttar Pradesh today. Kerala won the first two games 15-9 and 15-12 before Uttar Pradesh reduced the deficit by winning the third 15-8.
