Former cricket captain Sunil Gavaskar will play a recognised badminton tournament for the first time. He is paired with former Maharashtra champion Gautam Thakkar in the 50-plus category of the fourth G D Birla Memorial Veteran badminton tournament to be held here from October 13 at the Bombay Gymkhana.
