A day after a detainee died in custody, Malihabad Station House Officer (SHO) P P Singh was suspended on Wednesday. Anis, who had been arrested on December 23, following a scuffle in Bazari Khera village, was found dead in the lock-up on Tuesday morning.On Tuesday morning, Anis’s mother Hira Devi found her son unconscious inside the lockup when she went to visit him. He was rushed to a government hospital, which referred him to the trauma centre, where he was declared dead on arrival.The locals blocked the Lucknow-Hardoi road in protest and demanded strict action against the cops involved in the incident. Following the protest, a magisterial inquiry was ordered and Singh was suspended by Lucknow SSP Akhil Kumar. The police arrested Harish, Shiv Kumar and two others on Wednesday on charges of attacking and causing fatal injuries to Anis, following a complaint filed by Hira Devi.
