Shinde govt refuses to table SIT report

The Maharashtra government on Friday turned down the Opposition demand to table a SIT report on the stamp scam.

‘‘The report came to the Home Department through the CBI and not directly from the SIT. The government will seek the opinion of the CBI on whether the disclosure will hamper its investigation,’’ Home Minister R.R. Patil told the Assembly. State BJP chief Gopinath Munde had on Thursday demanded that the government come clean on the probe.
