Sena to support to NDA over the nuclear deal

The Shiv Sena said it was with the NDA on the issue of the Indo-US civil nuclear deal.

.

The Shiv Sena said on Tuesday that it was with the NDA on the issue of the Indo-US civil nuclear deal. “We are with the NDA over the issue of the nuclear deal,” Sena Executive president Uddhav Thackeray said in a statement in Mumbai.

Uddhav’s statement comes in the wake of reports quoting Sena MP Sanjay Raut that party supremo Bal Thackeray would take the final decision on the issue.

“Our stance on the issue is same as that of the NDA. Nobody should try to create confusion,” Uddhav said. Raut had said yesterday that his party considered the nuclear deal was in the national interest, but maintained the Sena would not do anything that would be a setback to the NDA. The Sena with 13 MPs in the Lok Sabha is a constituent of the NDA led by the BJP. Last year, the Sena had supported UPA’s presidential nominee Pratibha Patil.
