AHMEDABAD, SEPT 19: Shiv Sena has continued its tirade against Bharatiya Janata Party chief Bangaru Laxman’s statement of wooing Muslims, as its seniormost leader and Union Heavy Industries Minister Manohar Joshi said that after Laxman’s speech there were incidents of `attacks on Hindus’ in Nanded district of Maharashtra and similar incident was reported in Dariapur here on Sunday during civic elections. However, he said, despite some differences the alliance between Shiv Sena and BJP will continue.

Joshi, was on a tour of Ahmedabad city where their party’s candidate Vinod Patel was contesting from one of the wards of Dariapur locality and his son Hardik Patel was injured due to an incident of stabbing. He was accompanied by Union Minister for Chemicals and Ferilizers Suresh Prabhu. Both the ministers called on Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and Minister of State for Home Haren Pandya.

Talking to media persons, Joshi said the incident could have been avoided if proper bandobast had been maintained. He said Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray has asked him to go personally and see the situation at Ahmedabad. He further said wherever Hindus are attacked Shiv Sena always makes it a point to go and assess the situation.

The Shiv Sena got a shot in arm as estranged former BJP MLA Yatin Oza has called on Joshi and expressed his wish to join Shiv Sena. Oza, had recently resigned from Gujarat Vidhan Sabha and his resignation from BJP’s primary membership is yet to be accepted. State BJP president Rajendrasinh Rana said the party will take action when Oza joins another party.

However, he confirmed with UNI

that he thinking aloud about joining Shiv Sena and the date for his meeting with Thackeray will be decided later. Joshi also said that Oza called on him and said he believes that Shiv Sena is the only party which could be described as the saviour of Hindus. He said the decision on Oza’s joining Shiv Sena will be taken by Thackeray.

Haren Pandya, meanwhile, denied that there was any connection between the speech of Laxman and the incident at Dariapur. He said the speech was delivered a fortnight before and the poll related violence at Dariapur was relatively small and did not have any connection with Laxman’s speech.

He further said that this was the policy of the BJP `not to be against the minority but against the pampering of minority or minoritism’ as well as `appeasement to none and justice to all’. He also said the talk with Joshi was a cordial one though, there was a reference of Laxman’s speech.
