CALCUTTA, FEB 12: The State Shiv Sena today protested against “attempts at maligning its image in West Bengal”.

The party’s state secretary Ardhendu Sen, in a memorandum submitted to the office of the minister for home (police) Buddhadev Bhattacharya, said, “We want the police and intelligence to investigate into the recent threats to disrupt the India-Pakistan Test beginning here from 16th of this month.”

Dissociating with the threat issued recently to the Cricket Association of Bengal by the “so-called Shiv Sainiks”, Sen told the minister, “When our top leadership decided not to oppose the Test series, no state units of our organisation would create any problem for the Test matches.”

“And the state government should investigate and identity the people who are involved with the mischief-making,” he said. The state Shiv Sena blamed the administration for not trying to “identify the people who played the mischief impersonating as Shiv Sainiks.”
