Gurgaon, November 5 : Openers Aakash Chopra and Ashu Dani set the tone with a 95-run first wicket partnership as Delhi set out to a comfortable 270 for seven against Haryana on the first day of their North Zone Ranji trophy cricket match here today.

Chopra (51) and Dani (40) excelled and inspired the remaining batting order as almost everyone contributed against a struggling Haryana, who lost their opening game to minnows Jammu and Kashmir last week.

After raising 95 runs for the opening wicket, Chopra was induced by Pankaj Thakur with a flighted delivery and the batsman ended giving a regulation catch to Parinder.

Dani was quick to follow, Thakur shattering his stumps with a beauty as Delhi went into lunch at 111 for two.

Thakur was the most successful bowler with a haul of four wickets for 81 runs off 29 overs. Feroz Ghyas (2/52) was the other successful bowler after hosts won the toss and put Delhi in to bat.
