SHIMLA, MARCH 11: Security arrangements have been tightened for the crucial Vidhan Sabha session for a trial of strength here tomorrow, with security forces virtually laying siege in the vicinity of Vidhan Sabha complex and a large police force guarding all entry points.

Steel barricades have been raised at inter-state borders and other vulnerable points on major highways. No armed personnel would be allowed to enter the State without prior permission of the State government, police officials said. Police and State administration said it was determined to prevent repetition of the March 6 incident when Punjab minister Madan Mohan Mittal had entered the State accompanied by his commandos and taken away two HVC MLAs to Raj Bhawan.

SSP, Shimla, S R Mardi said law and order would be maintained. Meanwhile former chief minister Ram Lal Thakur has been appointed protem speaker for conducting business tomorrow. Governor V S Rama Devi administered oath to him this evening.
