AMBALA, June 2: SEVERAL journalists from Ambala district today demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of Ambala-based Jansatta reporter Virender Sachdeva.

The Indian National Lok Dal district youth chief Jasbir Malaur demanded a judicial inquiry into 25-year-old Virender8217;s death, saying the reporter was bringing out news quot;inconvenientquot; to the land mafia.

In a press release, local MLA Anil Vij demanded that the Armymen regulating traffic in the Cantonment area should be pulled up as a barricade was put on the road in violation of traffic rules. He alleged that barricades had been put up on the Air Force road and these quot;did not have reflectors and were death-trapsquot; during the night. Meanwhile, Ambala journalists have demanded medical assistance for Virender8217;s ailing sister and a job for another sister.

They also urged the Chief Minister to grant financial help to the bereaved family.

In the meantime, Ambala police range DIG Resham Singh along with a team of the FSL from Karnal visited the accident spot. The DIG said a number of persons were being questioned.
