The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) today officially began scouting for sponsors for the Asia Cup beginning in Sri Lanka in July.
BCCI president and ACC development committee chairman Jagmohan Dalmiya told reporters here they were hoping to offer the tournament as a ‘one-off’ to sponsors but there would be a long-term contract from the next edition of the tournament.
“It is possible and we are looking at how we can get time slots to have the tournament every two years,” Dalmiya said after talks with Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse.
Pakistan along with Bangladesh and Hong Kong are placed in group ‘A’ while Sri Lanka, India and United Arab Emirates are in group ‘B’ for the July 16-August 1 tournament incorporating 13 matches, nine of which would be day-night clashes. (PTI)
