The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a petition seeking action against Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy for alleged disrespect shown to National Anthem during a public function organised in Mysore last year.Refusing to entertain a petition filed by Kannada Rakshana Vakeelara Vedika, seeking action against Murthy under Insult To National Honours Act, a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said: “He has already expressed regrets for the incident. We will not entertain it.”According to the petitioner, Murthy had allegedly shown disrespect to National Anthem by dispensing with the official protocol of its oral recital during an Infosys function, attended by former President A P J Abdul Kalam.According to the petitioner, who sought the prosecution of Infosys mentor, the deputy commissioner of Mysore had instructed prior to the function that oral recital of National Anthem was mandatory. But the function began and ended with the play of its musical version.
