Sanjiv Nair scores a brace

NEW DELHI, December 2: Jamia Millia Islamia, PGDAV College and K. M. College topped their respective pools to enter the quarter-finals of 12th Zakir Hussain memorial football tournament at Ambedkar Stadium here today. Sri Ram College of Commerce, Ram Lal Anand (Morning & Evening) and Hansraj also qualified for the knockout stage.

The last group B league match between PGDAV College and RLA College (Morning & Evening combined) ended in a goalless draw. However, both the teams have reached the next stage of the tournament.

The group C league match between Jamia Millia Islamia and SRCC was played at a fast pace. Jamia scored a goal in each half, Sanjiv Nair being the marksman on both occasions.

In a keenly-contested encounter, formidable K. M. College and Hansraj College played a 1-1 draw. At half-time, K. M. College led by a solitary goal scored by Yogesh in the 11th minute. On resumption, Hansraj boys fought back and equalised in the 46th minute through Mohit Sharma.
