Sania Mirza and her American partner Bethanie Mattek (in action above), seeded 16th, reached the quarter finals of the women’s doubles after they upset the second-seeded duo of American Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur of Australia 2-6, 7-5, 7-5.

In the quarter finals, they will take on fifth seeds Chan Yung-jan and Chuang Chia-jung of Chinese Taipei. In mixed doubles, Leander Paes and America’s Meghann Shaughnessy defeated the American duo of Ashley Harkleroad and Justin Gimelstob 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals.
