CHANDIGARH, April 26: Sandeep Mahajan and Dinesh Gupta starred in Oriental Insurance Corporation of India’s 29 run win over Punjab Financial Corporation in the first semifinal of the Inter-Bank/Financial Institutions cricket tournament here at the DAV College ground today.
Sandeep Mahajan blasted 67 and in company with Vipan Sharma (49) laid a solid foundation for OIC. The two were severe on PFC bowlers htting them at will.
Towards the end Dinesh Gupta used the long handle to good effect, hitting an unbeaten 32. OIC put together a good looking total of 167 for 4 in 25 overs on the board.
PFC batsmen failed to keep going and had no answer to the guiles of leg spinner Dinesh Gupta who captured four wickets.
Except for Manoj who played a fine knock of 47 runs and Inderjeet who contributed 26, OIC did not face any resistance and bundled PFC out for 138.
Scores: OIC: 167 for 4 (Sandeep Mahajan 67, Vipan Sharma 49, Dinesh Gupta 32 n.o., Manoj 2-30) beat PFC: 138 (Manoj 47, Inderjeet 26, K Madaan 20, Dinesh Gupta 4-21, Durani 3-22, Hemant Puri 2-19).
Rain prevents play
