UT Administrator General SF Rodrigues (Retd) launched another Sampark centre at the Central Treasury in Sector 17 on Friday. The programme, with links to web portals of various departments of the UT Administration, provides ‘one stop solutions’ to multiple tasks, thus saving the time and energy of citizens, besides ensuring transparency in the delivery systems.General Rodrigues, while interacting with IT Director Manjit Brar and other functionaries of the project, asked them to make the centre more ‘people-friendly’ through interactive computer processes and enhance its scope of service and coverage. He further expressed happiness over the fact that since the launch of the Sampark centres in September 2004, over Rs 1,300 crore of government revenue has been collected by way of 55 lakh transactions through these centres. He called for giving special focus to the e-Gram Sampark centers, which provide various services to rural people besides providing information and internet services free of cost. Manjit Singh Brar, Director IT, while briefing about the project, said 22 public utility services are being provided in the nine e-Sampark centers in different parts of the city. The various facilities offered by the centres include payment of electricity bills, water and sewerage bills, booking of open spaces and community halls, issuing senior citizen cards, disability identification cards, disbursement of pensions, tenant registration, domestic servant registration, passport application submission, sale and acceptance of CHB forms, payment of telephone bills and sale of stamp papers. “Three more villages including Dadu Majra, Khuda Alisher and Daria have become operational from today under this facility,” he said. IT deputy commissioner RK Rao, treasury officer Rajiv Tiwari, municipal councillors, elected representatives and senior officials from the Administration were also present on the occasion.
