JOHANNESBURG, NOV 28: South Africa completed their 10th consecutive home Test win when they beat England by an innings and 21 runs on the fourth day of the first Test at the Wanderers today.

Shaun Pollock took the last two wickets to finish with four for 64.Pollock with match figures of eight for 80, and fellow fast bowler Allan Donald, who took 11 for 127, were the heroes of South Africa8217;s first victory by an innings over their oldest Test rivals.

Andrew Caddick delayed South Africa8217;s win by hitting 48, his highest Test score, scoring 44 off 53 balls today.

England had started the day in a hopeless position at 188 for seven, still 93 runs short of avoiding an innings defeat.

South Africa8217;s remarkable sequence of home wins started when they beat Pakistan in Port Elizabeth in the final Test of a three-match series in 1997-98.

They then beat Sri Lanka twice in the same season, achieved a 5-0 clean sweep against the West Indies last season and started the current season by beating Zimbabwe inBloemfontein. It was South Africa8217;s 11th Test without defeat, a record for the country and their third successive innings win following two against Zimbabwe.
