July 3: A businessman was shot at by three unidentified men in south Mumbai on Thursday evening. He has been injured in his palm.
According to crime branch sources, Prakash Shah, a businessman who also dealt in gold received a call on Wednesday inquiring whether he would be interested in purchasing gold.
When Shah showed interest, he was called to a spot at Wadala. Shah, however, did not carry money when he went to meet the person. It was then decided that they would again meet at Shah’s shop on Wednesday evening at Cawasji Patel Tank Road. This time, Shah was accompanied by his brother. Around 3.30 pm, when three men including the one who met Shah on Wednesday came to meet him, they were furious with Shah.
An argument ensued and the three accused Shah of two-timing them. When Shah tried to catch them, one of them pulled out a revolver and opened fire on the Shah brothers. Police say empty cartridges of a .32 revolver were found from the spot. Three rounds were fired. One bullet was lodged in Shah’s palm, while another went through his brother’s shirt.
