The Indian rupee on Friday fell by 20 paise at 47.94 against the greenback in early trade on heavy dollar demand from importers and foreign funds amid weakening global equity markets.
At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the Indian rupee, which closed at 47.74 yesterday, plunged by 20 paise against the USD.
The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Thursday dipped below 10,000 points level after losing over 385 points on the funds’ selling spree on concerns of deepening global recession fears, coupled with a moderate rise in inflation.
