Bringing up father 8220;There8217;s more to any story than just the father8217;s role,8221; says Shivaji Satam. The talented actor whose histrionics were most recently on display in Mahesh Manjrekar8217;s film Vaastav was in town for Maitri 2000, a charity show organised by fellow actor Mohan Joshi. Doesn8217;t he get to play the father a wee bit too often? 8220;Each role is different.
Like my forthcoming release Nidaan again by Manjrekar where I play the father of an AIDS- infected girl,8221;says the cine actor who straddles both the worlds of Marathi films and Bollywood. 8220;I am as comfortable in Hindi as in Marathi. After all the efforts required are the same,8221; he says. And what more could a director ask for from an actor who gives a convincing portrayal.
Tantrik Magic
Would you like to freak out on a crazy, whacky tantrik trip? All you have to do is slip on a Tantra T-shirt with one of their comical motifs and even wittier slogans. Created by a group of Mumbai graphic designers and artists, it has over 60 designs, depicting the different aspects of India, albeit tongue-in-cheek. For the spiritually inclined there are the Om motifs, Buddha and the giant footsteps of Vishnu. For rustic simplicity go for the tribal scenes, holy cows, village belles and Madhubani- ishtyle elephants. But if it is the downright cheekiest, whackiest, coolest one that you want -it8217;s right there- Indian moustaches to masalas, errant taxi drivers, corrupt cops, the Taj, colourful Goa and really crazy millennium mazaa with the weirdest, craziest slogans.
Dress N8217; Drive, opposite Gobbles, Koregaon Park, is organising a four-day sale of these really fundoo T-shirts from December 2, at specially discounted rates. If you wish to flaunt your attitude and turn heads, this is your chance to do it. Signalling change Did you associate crochet with tablecloth, bags and collars?
