In high spirits SATURDAY night and the night air filled with the melodious voice of gazhal singer Hariharan regaling a high profile party crowd at Satellite Towers in Koregaon Park. Hosted by Ravi Prakash, chairman and managing director Parrys Eastern Pvt Ltd and race horse owner, the lavish do saw a whole lot of folks from the racing fraternity alongwith film stars like Vikram Gokhale and Bindu.

With the sprawling lawns forming the perfect venue for this house warming party, the evening was a delightful mix of good music, good food and of course high spirits. Giddy up The city has notched up yet another first for itself. On Derby Day, one of the most interesting happenings turned out to the successful live telecast of the races from Pune8217;s Race Course to Mumbai8217;s Mahalaxmi. The project had for long been on the anvil.

The RWITC has made an investment of Rs 80 lakhs. While an earlier trial a week ago had failed to produce the desired results the one a day before the Derby had fulfilled the expectations enabling the club authorities to have a direct telecast of the Derby day. For the first time in India, races have been telecast live and while the present link up is only between Pune and Mumbai in Western India, race clubs of Delhi, Calcutta and Mysore are also expected to join in soon.

While this may decrease the traffic between Mumbai and Pune during the racing season, it will definitely draw in crowds in large numbers at the race courses in both cities alongwith of course giving a fillip to betting. With one achievement in hand all eyes are now trained for the next project of the RWITC -that of night racing in Mumbai, with the active financial assistance of Vijay Mallaya.
