ROHTAK, May 3: The Town and Country Planning Minister Srikishan Dass today inaugurated a 220 kv power sub-station at Rohtak benefiting over 2.06 lakh power consumers. Besides it would help in bearing the additional load coming on this system after the release of about 3900 pending connections in this area.The Minister said that the commissioning of this sub-station would help in curtailing the problems of low voltage and unwanted power cuts in the district. This sub-station would also supply power generated in Panipat thermal power plant, to areas of Bhiwani and Sonepat district also. In order to improve transmission and distribution system in Rohtak and Jhajjar districts, the H.S.E.B. has prepared a Rs. 12 crore plan. The plan includes setting up of 43 new sub stations at Sampla, M.D.U. Jassor kheri and Jhaggarh and upgradation of sub stations at Bahadurgarh, Sampla and Jharoda.He congratulated the officers and officials of H.S.E.B. for working on war footing during the past one year to complete the construction work of this sub-station and announced a bonus of 15 days salary to them. He also announced that Rohtak would be declared an industrial area. Rohtak had already been declared a backward area.The Minister of State for Power Attar Singh Saini reiterated that the state government was committed to removing power shortage in the state at the earliest. A number of steps had already been taken to increase power generation and streamline transmission and distribution systems. During the next year, gas based power plant at Faridabad would start generating power and the capacity of Panipat Thermal plant would also be increased.Saini remarked that this sub-station should have been completed many years back as its foundation stone was laid in 1987. But the previous state government neglected it. He exhorted the officers and officials of H.S.E.B. to complete the construction work of sub-station with the same spirit and zeal as shown in the construction of this sub-station.The chairman of H.S.E.B. Ranjit Issar said that about 350 lakh units were consumed daily in the state. The state's generating capacity was only 100 lakh units. The remaining units were purchased from Bhakhara Beas Management Board and 150 lakh units from other sources including N.T.P.C., Delhi Vidyut Board and Maruti etc. He announced that the power generation capacity of the state would be increased from present capacity of 683 mw to 1300 mw by the end of next year. He Also disclosed that the H.S.E.B. would set up 15 new sub-stations and buy about 70,000 new transformers. Deputy Commissioner Anil Kumar and member of technical board of H.S.E.B., P.K. Verma also spoke on the occasion.
