The naval warship, INS Agray, was seriously damaged when an underwater rocket blew up while participating in a three-day naval exercise, about 100 miles off the Mumbai coast. Defence spokesperson, Commander A.K. Lambhate, told The Indian Express, that the incident occurred on the night of February 5, causing the engine room to be flooded. 8216;8216;Cause of the damage is being ascertained,8217;8217; he added.

The warship, part of the Navy8217;s anti-submarine warfare squadron, was carrying out a firing exercise along with other naval ships in the Arabian Sea when the mishap occurred. 8216;8216;All naval personnel aboard INS Agray were rescued and shifted. The damaged warship will soon be towed back to the dockyard in South Mumbai,8217;8217; he said. A board of inquiry has been constituted. The spokesman said several ships were conducting the exercise in the regular exercise held in February and March every year.
