BANGALORE, NOV 14: Robin Singh (54 not out) guided Tamil Nadu to a three-wicket win over Karnataka in the Pepsi South Zone one-day league fixture at the Chinnaswamy stadium here on Friday.

Set to score 250 in 50 overs, Tamil Nadu lost their way for a while after cruising past the 200 mark for the loss of five wickets. But in the end, they managed to scramble home, with debutante Vasanth Saravanan dispatching the first ball he faced from Kumble to the fence in the third ball of the final over.

Karnataka thus suffered their second reverse in the one-day tournament. They had lost to Hyderabad in their last tie.

Brief scores: Karnataka 249 in 49.5 overs (J Arun Kumar 63, Vijay Bharadwaj 42; D Vasu 4-43, M Venkataramana 3-43) lost to Tamil Nadu 251-8 in 49.4 overs (Tanveer Jabbar 46, Robin Singh 54 n.o; Johnson 2-54, Kumble 2-36) by two wickets.

Shetty scores ton

KOCHI: An unbeaten century by opening batsman Aravind Shetty helped Hyderabad make 217 for five wickets at close on the first day of their four-day South Zone match against Kerala.

Electing to bat first, Hyderabad openers Shetty and Daniel Manohar gave a good start, adding 59 before Manohar was clean bowled by off-spinner Ramprakash. JAMSHEDPUR: A masterly 107 not out by Rajiv Kumar enabled Bihar score 213 for seven in their first innings on the opening day of the four-day East Zone match against Assam at Keenan stadium.

Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Bihar met with disaster losing four of its wickets for 23 runs in 13.1 overs.
