
PATNA, DEC 25: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has chalked out a series of month-long agitational programmes against the Centre for its alleged anti-farmer policies and has decided to organise a massive rally at the Boat Club in New Delhi on January 30.
Bihar Minister for Excise and National spokesperson of the RJD, Shivanand Tiwari said the party has already launched its campaign against the Centre from the historic Gandhi Ashram at Bhitiharwa in North Bihar on Saturday in order to put pressure to recall its new agriculture policy.
The party would observe December 31 as "Agriculture Produce Item Ban Day" across the Country followed by a month long agitation.
The RJD is demanding payment of subsidy to the farmers of Bihar on lines of Punjab and Andhra Pradesh and opening up of purchase centres at block levels for surplus paddy. The party would also organise block level dharna on December 31 to protest the anti-farmer and anti-people policy of the Centre, Tiwari said.
(Save Farmers and Save the Nation) rally would be organised at Gandhi Maidan on March 4, he said.
Tiwari said the party president Laloo Prasad Yadav would tour different parts of the state from January 20 to mobilise support for the programmes.
