MUMBAI, FEB 26: Rizvi, who had won the junior title earlier this season, lifted the Dr Ibrahim Rahimtoola Trophy, the symbol of supremacy in the Senior College cricket tournament, when they beat Jhunjhunwala by 167 runs in the final at the Elf Vengsarkar ground today.
Jhunjhunwala, resuming on their overnight score of 177-6, were all out on the second new ball, taken after lunch, for 268.
This is the second time Rizvi have captured the senior title. Their first triumph had come in 1994-95 at the RCF ground. Notably, this is the first time in the history of college cricket that a team has bagged the junior and senior crowns in the same year. Ironically, Jhunjhunwala lost in both the finals, this year.
