PANCHKULA, Aug 15: It was a "rainy" night that failed to lure the happening crowd to drive all the way to Funcity near here for a feel of cool showers on the humid Saturday night. The "reigning beauty", of the evening, Mini Mathur, had to wait hours in the backstage for the crowd to trickle in.

It was around 10 p.m., almost two hours behind schedule, that she finally took on the stage before a none too enthused crowd of about a hundred youngsters on the dance floor.

Amidst loud music and showers, which at times turned into a drizzle, the rainy arena had drenched youngsters dancing to the tune of the hottest numbers. Mini’s presence, however, failed to make any impact. Aditya, a college student, on being asked whether Mini’s captivating charm had a hand in luring him to the place, said, "Not in the least! So what if she is an MTV VJ? We have much prettier girls in our own City Beautiful."

But for petite Shikha, who wanted this reporter to join her, it was fun all the way. "I am having a ball of a time out here. After all, this is something different from other discotheques and the presence of a celebrity like Mini Mathur adds to the excitement."

However, Sunaina Bhinder of X-Factor Enterprises who had organised a similar event last year said the organisers had used the same name and logo that she had designed last year. "Is innovation dead in today’s world ?" she questions. But Vineeta Bahl of D-REXX Event Management, who organised the event this time, clarified that the name and the logo was their brain-child.
