The two-member Pakistani security assessment team, which toured India last week for an on-the-spot inspection of cricket venues, today submitted its report to the Pakistan Cricket Board. “The report of the venue assessment team has been received and we are looking at it,” PCB media advisor Abbas Zaidi said from Lahore but declined to reveal its contents. The report has been drafted by PCB official Zakir Khan and senior Pakistan police official Sohail Khan, who toured India to finalise the venues for three Tests and five one-dayers during the tour. Sources in the PCB, however, said Pakistan officials in their interactions with their BCCI counterparts had expressed reservations over Ahmedabad and Bangalore as venues to play the Test matches and conveyed their preference to play instead at Chennai, where Pakistan had narrowly won against India during its last tour in 1999.
