Tamil Nadu’s outgoing Governor P.S. Ramamohan Rao has pleasant memories of Raj Bhawan but his memoirs will catalogue his blunders during the three years.
‘‘My days here were memorable. I will come out with a compilation on my experiences in Tamil Nadu. The focus will be on the blunders that I had committed,’’ Rao told reporters.
While the Governor got down to packing up, despite the efforts of the AIADMK to retain him, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa today slammed her opponents for alleging that she had breached the oath of secrecy by recounting her conversation with Union Home Minister Shivaraj Patil.
‘‘I am not in the habit of recording or tapping any telephonic conversation with anyone. Similarly, there was no recording or tapping of Union Home Minister’s conversation with me on October 28,’’ she said in a statement issued here.
According to Jayalalithaa, whatever was filed in the Supreme Court was a gist of the conversation recounted by her to the Chief Secretary.
‘‘In fact the petition filed in the Supreme Court specifically mentions that it is a gist of the conversation recollected by the Chief Minister. Much more was said on both sides during my conversation with the Union Home Minister and those portions were not revealed in the petition,’’ she stressed.
Lashing out at the Opposition ‘‘for raising irrelevant issues’’, Jayalalithaa said perhaps they were not aware of the contents of Form VI, Schedule III of the Constitution of India (text of the oaths of secrecy).
‘‘People like Karunanidhi would do well to remember that I am not in the habit of divulging vital information concerning the security of the state to terrorists and anti-national forces like the LTTE, as he did when he was the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,’’ she said.
