PIO card scheme
New Delhi: The Government on Wednesday launched the much-awaited Persons of Indian Origin PIO card scheme for more than 15 million people living abroad. Those holding a PIO card will be entitled to a set of privileges such as a visa-free regime, and special economic, educational and financial benefits.
Chameli Devi awards
New Delhi: The Chameli Devi Jain Awards for outstanding women journalists were presented today. This year8217;s awards were given to Homi Vyarawala, the grand old lady of Indian photojournalism; Pamela Philipose, Senior Editor, The Indian Express, and Vasavi, an activist and freelance writer for Jansatta and the Ranchi-based Prabhat Khabar.
