HYDERABAD: AT least 30 persons were feared drowned when a private bus in which they were travelling was washed away in a swirling rivulet in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh Wednesday. The mishap occurred when the overcrowded bus proceeding from Pulivendula to Muddanur lost balance while crossing the swollen rivulet.

No royal apologyLONDON: Queen Elizabeth will not apologise for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre during her visit to Amritsar later this month. The Queen will lay a wreath on October 14 at the Jallianwala Bagh memorial to honour the dead, but there will be no apology. “Her Majesty does not go around the world making apologies,” said a British official. “Laying a wreath at the memorial is considered a gesture of reconciliation,” he said.

Forex dealer heldMUMBAI: The Enforcement Directorate has arrested another forex dealer for alleged FERA violation by use of the Business Travel Quota route, involving foreign currency to the tune of Rs 13.79 crore. The accused, Afzal Adam Saudagar, has admitted that he acquired the business from another set of individuals, who were original allottees of the Reserve Bank of India licence for Full Fledged Money Changer (FFMC).

IRS-1D fineNEW DELHI: Indian Space Research Organisation chairman, Dr K Kasturirangan, Wednesday allayed fears about the longevity of the IRS-1D satellite saying, “there is absolutely no threat to the satellite from the orbital point of view, it can last there for years.” On Monday the satellite was hurled in wrong orbit.
