
Govt warns oil sector employees against strike
NEW DELHI: Government on Monday night warned officials of Indian Oil and Bharat Petroleum that their strike would be declared illegal and strict action would be taken against those instigating others or disrupting work. In a statement, Petroleum Minister Ram Naik said the Centre has asked state governments to invoke the provisions of Essential Services Maintenance Act, if necessary, and regulate demand for products like petrol, diesel and kerosene.

Rajan aides killed
MUMBAI: Two members of the Chota Rajan gang were killed in an encounter with police in Ghatkopar on Monday. Officers of the Crime Branch confronted Umesh Pujari and Chandu Maglurkar and asked them to surrender. When the gangsters fired at them, the police returned the fire in which the duo were injured. They were taken to Rajawadi Hospital and were declared dead before admission.
