It’s been a week. And the world is still moved by Razia Khatun’s story. Offers of help have poured in after The Indian Express published a report of this blast victim’s family of eight.

Her family is still mourning the death of its sole bread-winner — cab driver Mohammed Islam (34) — in the car bomb at Zaveri Bazaar on August 25. Though no one can fill the void, readers are reacting to Razia’s dream of an English-medium education for her children.

PUNE: V.K. Abdulla wants to ‘‘educate Tabassum at Pune’s Kendriya Vidyalaya’’. He is press relations officer, Ministry of Defence, Southern Command.

AJMER: A bureaucrat’s family wishes to either adopt Razia’s daughters Tabassum (8) and Rukhsar (6) or fund their education. ‘‘Even if they want to go to Bombay Scottish,’’ they write.

EMIRATES: Russi J Patel and Al Saleh wrote in from the Emirates, wishing to ‘‘fund the education of Razia’s kids.’’

Meanwhile, the Management Trust of Mariam Public School in Jogeshwari, where Razia wants to admit Tabassum and Rukhsar, has agreed to take on the children ‘‘free of cost’’, says its general secretary Aftab Khan. Help has also come from social reformer Asghar Ali Engineer’s Centre for Study of Societies and Secularism, which has decided to give Rs 5,000 to Razia towards the education of Tabassum who wants to be a doctor.

Razia’s overwhelmed by the offers but is hesitant about accepting an adoption offer for her daughters. ‘‘Will they let me meet mummy?’’ asks Tabassum, taking a break from dressing up a doll for ‘‘her marriage’’. The Express My Mumbai Trust has arranged to help pay pregnant Razia’s medical bills and buy the family an autorickshaw. Another offer came in from Dr Z.N. Qureshi — the head of Jogeshwari’s Noor Hospital and Nursing home where Razia is to deliver. He said that he has ‘‘waived the costs of Razia’s delivery.’’
