PUNE, OCT 30: Additional Director General of Police (State CID) A K Agarwal today said he has received directives to conduct a probe into the alleged irregularities in the development plan (DP) proposals for the merged villages.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Agarwal said he received a letter to this effect on October 27. The letter, issued by Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, was sent to the DGP, who in turn, redirected it to the State CID chief.
When asked who has been asked to conduct the probe, Agarwal said the decision was yet to be taken. “It will be decided later on,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister’s order has created a sensation in the civic corridors. Some corporators have undertaken a damage-control exercise in view of the possible implications of the CID probe. A senior office-bearer even had contacted Bhujbal on the matter this morning, but the Deputy Chief Minister asked him to speak to Sharad Pawar.
Last week, Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar had disclosed that Bhujbal had ordered a CID probe into the alleged harassment of poor farmers.
