Pune couple die in China

Barely eight months after marriage, Shweta (22) and her husband Manesh Kharchane (29) were suffocated to death in a gas leak at their house in Ningbo, China. Their bodies will be brought to Pune on Saturday afternoon.

Shweta’s uncle Nitin Kale said the her brother-in-law, who also worked in China, confirmed the cause of the death. Before going to bed, the couple had apparently switched on a room heater and died due to the leak in gas pipeline. The bodies were discovered by their domestic help the next morning.

Kharchane, resident of NIBM Road, Kondhwa, was Regional Manager with East Asia Buying Services Ltd in Ningbo, on the China-Hong Kong border. Shweta, resident of Vastuudyog, Pimpri, was a fashion designer and owned a beauty parlour.
