Plea to save eagle babies
The Katraj Snake Park authorities and a team of city ornithologists have appealed the citizens to help them in saving crested serpent eagle babies, straying towards city possibly due to destruction of their habitat in western hills.

The animal orphanage at the Snake Park has received at least six injured babies in the past fortnight, an official press communique said on Friday. These were brought from Model Colony, Law College Road, NDA, Sinhagad Road and Nanded village areas. The crested serpent eagles are listed in the red list of birds on the verge of extinction.

Two killed
Two persons, including an 11-year-old boy, were killed on the spot while three were seriously injured when a truck dashed against a tree before crashing into the wall of a house at Loni Kalbhor on Pune-Solapur Road early Friday.

The truck coming to Pune from Barshi in Solapur district, went off the road and dashed against a tree near the Philips Company along the highway after the driver lost control over the vehicle around 5.30 am, police said.

The identity of the dead boy was ascertained as Suhas Suresh Khature from Barshi.
