Farewell, the varsity style!
While it is customary on the part of the University of Pune to accord a farewell to their employees who retire from service with a bouquet, memento and some warm words, it will probably mark a first in the university8217;s history as the administration has even included the name of an employee who has been 8220;compulsorily retired from service.8221;

The administration issues a circular when employees at various departments retire from service and organises a function to felicitate their contribution to the university. A similar circular was issued today by the Deputy Registrar administration which included the names of four employees who retired from service on April 30.

However, what caught several by surprise was the inclusion of Shivaji Dhamdhere who was found guilty of molesting a foreign girl student and compulsorily retired from service on April 2.

A one-man inquiry committee of District Judge retd S V Naik had found Dhamdhere who was a section officer at the International Students hostel guilty of misconduct and the university later had compulsorily retired him from service. While Dhamdhere was scheduled to retire from service on April 30, the administration however highlighted in a separate column regarding Dhamdhere8217;s compulsory retirement from service. Will he be felicitated or not? is the question doing rounds at the university.
