Chennai: The Madras High Court has cancelled the allotment of petroleum products dealership given to K.M. Padmini, wife of Union Minister of State Railways A.K. Murthy. Justice K P Sivasubramaniam, who cancelled the allotment while passing orders on a writ petition from Revathi, an unsuccessful candidate for dealership on Wednesday, rapped the Dealership Selection Board Chairman for ‘adopting an arbitrary and injudicious approach’. ‘‘With a view to avoiding inconsistent decisions of the different high courts and district courts, it would be in the interest of justice that the Supreme Court may transfer the said cases to itself and dispose them or in the alternative transfer all such cases to one high court,’’ the Centre said in its petition.
The apex court will hear the matter next on August 26 when it will consider the Centre’s plea to transfer all the petitions to itself or to any one high court to avert ‘‘multiplicity of proceedings’’ on the same question.
